Which Voice Will You Listen To?

It’s been several months since I’ve written a blog post. My husband had been diagnosed with cancer and the doctors’ appointments and treatments were taking up so much time and energy. Also, the chores around the property fell to me and they were overwhelming. Those were the reasons that I dropped the blog to the bottom of my ‘To Do’ list; at least, that is what I told myself. But what was really happening was that I was listening to the wrong voice.

You know that voice I’m talking about? It’s the one that tells you you’re not good enough, there are so many others doing what you are trying to do but are so much better at it, and that you could not possibly make any meaningful difference. It is also the voice that will beat you down when you are at your lowest. Sometimes that voice is just in your mind but other times it can come from the people around you. At times it chimes in when you are listening to the t.v., listening to a podcast or reading. That voice has one goal – to keep you from reaching your God given and directed potential.

My goal for starting this blog was to help others find joy in living as a follower of Jesus Christ and to strengthen each other along the way. With the death of Charlie Kirk on September 10, a great ambassador of Christ was silenced. I realized that every Christian needs to raise their voice in any and every way now to testify of Jesus Christ’s atonement and healing power. We need to let every person know how loved they are by their Heavenly Father and Savior. We are literally children of our Father in heaven, and his only goal is to raise us up, to have us return to Him one day. A loving father wants the best for his children. He wants to see them succeed in reaching their full potential. The voice we need to listen to is the loving, affirming voice from the Lord not the voice that wants to tear us down, making us feel inferior and defeated. That voice is from the adversary.

So this is my response to the adversary: I choose to listen to the Lord’s voice. Perhaps I am not as good at this as others, but since He has asked me to do this work, I will not stop again in encouraging others to stand up and testify of Jesus Christ. I will cheer them on in their efforts to progress as a follower of the Savior and to strive to live as he did. And whether I make a difference to one person or many people does not matter, as every person is precious to God. And this is all He has asked of me, to follow where He leads.

Yours in Christ,

Audrey
