Has Christ Been Going About Doing Good in Your Life?

This last weekend was our Church’s semi-annual General Conference. One of the speakers, Elder Patrick Kearon, asked, “Have you felt [the Savior] going about doing good in your life even when you haven’t been seeking Him or following Him?” (Jesus Christ, Your New Beginning, October 2025 General Conference). I’ve been thinking about this question ever since Conference.

With the number of things each day calling for my attention and energy, I wondered if I was even noticing the good that the Savior is doing in my life. It’s so easy to focus on what is not going well, the problems in the world or our lives, and the difficulties that family and friends are experiencing. It became clear to me that I wasn’t making the effort or taking the time to acknowledge the Savior’s hand in my daily life. My prayers often focused on what I or others needed, and while I expressed gratitude for many of the blessings in my life, they did not recognize the many ways the Lord “goes about doing good.”

This last week I’ve been paying closer attention to what occurs each day, recognizing how often He reaches out to lift me, direct me, and help me to understand a situation. He enlarges my understanding, teaches me truth and humility (not always fun but always necessary), and widens my perspective.

Also during this last week, I started looking back and recalling times when I felt unworthy, far from the Lord, that I was being a poor disciple, or situations in which I experienced hopelessness. As I reviewed those times and my path of healing and reconciliation, I recognized the truth that Elder Kearon pointed out:

“Through the goodness and grace of the Saviour, we can have fresh starts that propel change in old mindsets, bad habits, grumpy dispositions, negative attitudes, feelings of powerlessness, and tendencies to blame others and avoid personal responsibility. (Ibid)”

My introspection confirmed that He did help me in all those areas and many more.

I can assure you that the Lord is watching over you, that He is “going about doing good” in your life whether you have asked for it, felt worthy of it or not. His hand is stretched out to you at all times.

It is my hope that you will make time this week to consider the good that your Lord and Savior is doing for you daily and express your gratitude to Him. If you feel far from Him, I pray that you will recognize His love for you and that you will reach out to take His hand that He may lift you and guide you.

Yours in Christ,

Audrey
